# AXR (full text for AI assistants) > AXR lets people book and order from local shops inside AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok). When someone asks an assistant for a haircut, a table or a coffee, AXR finds the shop and, for shops connected to AXR, books the time or takes the pickup order right in the chat. It runs a single MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and other MCP-capable assistants can connect to. - For customers: ask your assistant for a service or an order in plain words. AXR shows matching shops on a map card. At shops connected to AXR it shows real services, prices and open times, books the appointment, or takes the pickup order. Nothing to download and no account needed; booking asks for your name and mobile number. Viewing, moving or cancelling your bookings is confirmed with a 6-digit code sent to the phone or email you booked with. - For shop owners: AXR makes your shop bookable and orderable from AI assistants, round the clock, using the hours, services, menu and prices you already have. Bookings and orders land in your own system under your shop's name. AXR only offers times that are open in your calendar, so it doesn't double-book you. - Shops that aren't connected yet still appear in search with their address, phone and website. Calling those shops for the customer ("Call for me") is in testing and not offered to the public yet; AXR's voice agent always says it is an automated assistant and no audio is stored. ## Coverage - About 1.7 million local businesses mapped in San Francisco and 65 other US metro areas (every state's main city plus New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Orlando, Seattle and more). - Online booking and ordering work only at shops connected to AXR. Early adopters pay no software fee during early access, and AXR emails at least 30 days before the fee starts. - After early access, AXR's cost is a software fee on the orders and bookings it brings in: 15% of their value for food and drink places (cafés, bakeries, restaurants, bars) and 20% for everything else (salons, barbers, spas, retail, services). Counted per location and charged monthly to the card on file. - Walk-ins, the shop's own phone calls and bookings the shop takes itself carry no fee. - Pro (coming soon): $279 a month per location.
